We are David and Liz Warner. We were both born and raised in Ogden, Utah. We met in Jr. Posse and grew up together competing and showing horses. We were married in 1987 and have built a great life together. We raised two children, Gabrielle and Jason, who are married to Carson and Whitley respectively. We have three grandsons, Jax, Archer, and Holden, with a granddaughter on the way!
David received his first horse, Quincy Joe, for Christmas when he was 6 years old. Ever since, he's been an avid rider, boarding horses at Glassman's on Country Hills Drive in South Ogden and riding in places like the Sand Hills or by Bues Pond. He participated in Jr. Posse, 4-H, and competed nationally showing quarter horses in the American Junior Quarter Horse Association (AJQHA) with his horse, Tricky Cee, where he won many awards, both in the state of Utah and Intermountain Quarter Horse Associations. He won the 3-year-old Non-Pro Western Pleasure riding "Blue Denim Zipper" (Zipper) at the 1991 All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Colombus, OH.
Liz was introduced to horses by her dad when she was 8 years old, and she also participated in Jr. Posse and 4-H. Initially trying her hand at queening, she later found her passion was showing horses. She competed nationally in the American Junior Quarter Horse Association with her horse "The Collateral" (Grayford). Like David, Liz won many awards in the state association, as well as the Intermountain Quarter Horse Association. Her last year at the AJQHA world show, Liz and Grayford had the best ride of their life and won the Reserve World Champion in Western Riding in the 1986 AJQHA World Championship Show in Tulsa, OK.
Our passion for miniature horses began when Gabrielle and Jason were young, with the purchase of our first mini, "Pony Boy." After our kids got married, in hopes of securing his spot as the favorite grandpa, David bought "Opie." Known for his playful yet gentle personality, Opie has become a neighborhood sensation, often stopping traffic during walks. As our family continued to grow, so did the amount of mini horses. We have added Charley, Luca, and Pippy II. The joy we've seen our horses bring to our grandchildren and others has inspired us to launch Skywalker Mini's LLC.
